COURSE OVERVIEW
AP Studio Art portfolios are designed for students who are seriously interested in the practical experience of art. AP Studio Art credit is not based on a written exam, but rather portfolio's submitted for evaluation at the end of the school year. Our AP Studio Art Program consists of three portfolios: 2-D Design, 3-D Design and Drawing corresponding to the most common college foundation courses. This course is designed as an opportunity for highly motivated students to do college level studio art in high school. The program requires a significant amount of time and personal dedication. AP studio art encourages creative and systematic investigation of formal and conceptual issues. Students in AP Studio Art meet in the same class as students taking Portfolio Preparation. Students are required to complete two levels of art before taking AP Studio Art. Due to portfolio review and early applications for college, students who are serious about pursuing art school are encouraged to take AP Studio Art as a junior. Students may complete two years of AP Studio Art as there are three separate portfolios to complete. Each portfolio may result in earning college credits. |
